Our thoughts and prayers are with Gerald and the family as well. Tell Gerald that we will battle on without him and hope that we can try to keep up with our financial reporting as best we can. We know that he will need to check it all out when he gets back. We have a bottle of red for him for Christmas and will keep it in the cellar until we see him.

Gerald is a fighter and his fitness from Football umpiring will help him and he is a winner. You will get through this terrible time as you have a lot of support. Don't

Hey Gerald my mate of 57 years,
you of all people, didn't deserve this challenge of such enormity.
But as I have known you the longest ( other than your Mother), I know that you will be throwing everything you have in the tank at this one. As you have in past instances, I know you will systematically and doggedly take this on until only you are satisfied , close the folder and say - "job done !".
With the love and support of all around you and a word to the Grand Master of all things you will prevail.
To visit you every day for 2 weeks and see your progress helped me greatly to deal with this. I was very humbled that you allowed me to help you some mealtimes and take you outside for the first time.
I will be back in Adelaide as soon as I can.
Oh, and Lorraine wants her Footy Mate back !.

Hi Gerald, glad to hear things are improving although probably too slow for your liking. I know you are a fighter, determined and very competitive so don't get too frustrated. This is not the way you would have wanted to spend Christmas but keep building on the improvements every day. Thinking about you and you are in my prayers. Cheers and keep smiling. Klaus

Gerald
We finish up tomorrow after what has been a massive year for us all. Our successes are due in no small part to your work and encouragement. We completed the Finance report for the end of this year and the Board said it was ok. Guess you will need to check it later so that we don't make too many errors for too long, Maria says to get fit so that she can challenge you to a boxing round!!! Seriously, we wish you a good recovery and look forward to moving forward for us all in 2013. from Marcia and Maria.

Hi Gerald. English House closes today for the Christmas break - back on Monday 14 January. We thought we would send you a quick Christmas greeting. It is so good to hear you are going well in rehab. We are confident that you will be back to your usual bright, active self again soon. Take care and we hope, despite the circumstances, that you and your beautiful family have a wonderful Christmas. Hey Gerald, It always amazes me how easily this sort of thing happens, but beleive it or not it does happen quite often. The main thing is that you are lucky enough to have a large group of extended family and close freinds out here to help you and your family get thru this. Your a fighter mate, I know you'll beat this, its in your nature, my thoughts are with you constantly mate, lottsa love Paddy and familly

I was thrilled to read the progress you've made since you've moved to Hampstead, mate. You really are a tough old chook, alright!!

I live less than a 10 minute drive from Hampstead, so I will drop in and catch up with you in the next few days. We will definitely talk about our beloved Crows!! l

Hi Gerald, i was saddened to hear of your accident after seeing you at the UC Invest Golf Day only a short time beforehand. I am pleased to hear that you are slowly getting there and I have no doubt that you will recover, it will just take time and hard work. To the Welden family, my very best wishes to you all. I have been through the trauma of a head injury with my husband and can relate to the ICU ward at the RAH and the wards at the Hampstead Centre so believe me when I say I empathise with you. Tiffany - congratulations on such a lovely forum, what a great way of keeping those who care about your dad informed. I have had the pleasure of being a minute secretary at UnitingCare Wesley Adelaide (Uniting Communities now) for several of the committees that your dad serves on for us and he is, and has always been, an absolute gentlemen. He always says hello to the "secretary" and i have developed a fondness for him over the years. A few years ago I was surprised to see your dad at the Shedley Theatre (I am involved with the theatre community in SA as a performer). He was attending Fame and was very proud to tell me that the lovely blonde appearing on the stage was his little girl. I will be thinking of you all as you go through the recovery process with your dear dad, husband and son. Take care of each other, cry when you need to, get angry if it helps and tell each other how much you love one another every day.

Hi Gerald & Family
I am pleased to hear that you are getting better every day, being able to follow your progress on the website has been very enlightening and it is amazing how quickly you are bouncing back. It has been a bit quiet at work without the usual banter between us (that is the Crows and Power discussions) so hopefully we will be having these conversations in the not too distant future. Glad to hear you & your family had a great Christmas and here's hoping the New Year will be kind to you all. Kind regards, Jenny

Dear Gerald,

I was very shocked to learn after speaking with Clinton Fern that a spritely young lad such as yourself has had a fall. I was not shocked at all however to learn that you are making a speedy recovery and that you are facing this all with determination.

I am a little disappointed that you didn't wait a couple of years for me to finish my degree so that I'm able to help out, but as far as I can remember with my business interaction with you, you have always been ahead of the game by a few steps so I'm not sure of why I thought that you might wait for me to be done.

I hope that your recovery continues in the right direction and that you're back to full capacity in no time at all!

You're very fortunate to have such a supportive family around you, and I am sure that this has made this arduous process all that much easier!

My thoughts are with you all!

Kindest regards

Hey Gerald,

It's been 3 weeks since returning home from visiting you at Hampstead. Not a day passes without Lorraine and I thinking of you. The daily visit and having accompanied you on 2 home trips was truly inspiring. The firm friendships you have developed professionally, socially and personally are self evident by way of all the above notations. These have been complemented by the growing list of people who have come to know you since that day recognizing your dedication and determination to compliment their efforts in assisting your recovery. I know they are continually bemused by your dry wit.(nothing's changed).
Highlite - you, enjoying Greek Birthday cake in the garden area contra to saying "that is not on my list" - see, you can drop the discipline once in a while. Big thanks to the Family in the garden for sharing the celebration.
Mate, keep up the good work and I look forward to our continued contact and more so to my next visit.
A special hello from Lorraine your Crows games texting mate - happy about Crows win in Mini Showdown with Port Power in NAB Cup. looking forward to texting season.
A big man hug,

Hi Gerald,
Heaps of changes with the Rotary meetings. You may have already heard that we have been ëxpelled" from the Public Schools Club after 25 years. It is quite likely that other clubs may follow suit, meals were still very poor quality, and service slightly improved. Following our complaints to the PSC Board they decided to terminate our presence there. We are temporarily meeting at the Naval Military & Airforce Club and that may become our permanent address. Keith Pearson has elected to be President next year. We have also had to hire a U-store it space on the Anzac Hwy near Ashford Hospital to keep all of the rubbish we have accumulated. Gerry, Henry and I had a working bee on Monday to transfer all of the gear in a trailer.

Keep your spirits up and get better soon.

Regards, George

If you can, have a look at our new website. It looks good, despite a few hiccups, I think we are getting there. Dean Hudson is keeping your seat warm and helping us to keep the finances going - using only your systems of course. He costs a lot more than you do. Wish you were here to help me with the budgets!! We have your Christmas present still and will come to your home and help you sample it soon. from Marcia and Maria.

Hi Gerald,
Wednesday 22nd meeting as per normal at the Naval & Military Club.
Next Wednesady 29th meeting is transferred to the Capri cinema for a series of short films made by young South Australians. I believe there are drinks and nibbles beforehand. 6.30 for pre film refreshments.
Following week is back to the Naval & Military. We have transferred Club paraphernalia to President Allan's spare office at 8 Greenhill Rd. and closed up the U-store it unit. Still no idea on the correct meeting number.
Good to hear that you are now mainly at home. Kind Regards,
George

To all followers of Geralds journey.
An unfortunate set back over the weekend for Gerald which has really peeved him off. He has contracted a bone infection and has had to have his recent skull replacement removed. I visited him at RAH ward Q5 on Wed.and he was absolutely fantastic - still so positive but disappointed. He should be in RAH for a week or so then home again albeit with his hated helmet for a couple of months.
Thereafter , all being good , a Titanium replacement.
Thankfully no other side effects.
Tiffany is o'seas at this time so I figured this was the only way to get the word out.

Gerald has worked with our group as a Board member and Treasurer. Myself and our admin assistant visited him in June shortly before the setback and had a cup of coffee with him. He was talking about coming back to us. Tell him our thoughts and prayers are with him for this operation and we will keep an eye on his progress. Tell him that we managed to get through the audit without him, but it has cost us a fortune in Accountancy fees - just shows his worth to us!! Best wishes, CCI Group Purchasing.
